Flames vs. Blackhawks analysis

The Blackhawks lost the first two games at Los Angeles and Anaheim by a cumulative 10-2 score.

They trailed San Jose, 4-0, in the second period on Saturday night, but put together an improbable comeback by scoring five unanswered goals to win, 5-4, in overtime on a Seth Jones goal.

The Flames have dropped their last three games to the Capitals, Canucks and Sabres. Calgary allowed at least four goals in all three losses, while the Flames are stuck in a 2-6 slump over their last eight games.

The two Western Conference foes have split the first two matchups this season with the home teams winning each time.

Chicago edged Calgary, 4-3, as a +200 underdog on Jan. 7, while the Flames blanked the Blackhawks, 1-0, as nearly -300 favorites on Jan. 27.

Blackhawks rookie star Connor Bedard missed both games with a broken jaw as Chicago’s win over Calgary was the first game after his injury.

Flames vs. Blackhawks pick

Chicago has played better at United Center of late, winning three of its last four home games. The Blackhawks didn’t exactly beat great competition during this stretch, knocking off Arizona, San Jose and Anaheim — teams not going to the playoffs this season.

In Chicago’s last five games returning home from a road trip of at least two games, the Blackhawks are 2-3, but all three losses came by one goal.

Let’s take the Blackhawks, who have been a force at home against midlevel-to-poor competition.

Pick: Blackhawks PL +146 (FanDuel)
